No Review of Prop 215 by Supreme Court

Great news for California from The Supreme Court!

On 18th May 2009 The Supreme Court has declared it will not get involved in a quarrel over California’s medical marijuana law. The case presented a straight conflict to the justices of “California’s Compassionate Use Act” which its critic says contravenes federal laws barring drug use. A California appeals court ruled last summer that the state’s medical marijuana law doesn’t preempt a national drug ban. Monday’s decision by the Supreme Court effectively confirms that ruling.

In total 13 states have acts allowing for the restricted use of marijuana. California’s medical marijuana law allows any individuals and their care givers to “cultivate, possess and transport” marijuana only for medical purposes. State officials in San Diego pointed it and filed a lawsuit saying the state law breaches the federal “Controlled Substances Act”.

In its argument to the Court, the state officials said the California law is different to federal efforts to control drug use. California united a group of Pro-Marijuana people in asking the Supreme Court not to consider this petition. They argued the particulars of this case made it a “pitiable vehicle” for the Supreme Court to use in finalizing such a debatable issue.

So this proves two things most Sand Diego State officials suck, and that Prop 215 has stood against The Supreme Court. We are one step closer to a more full legalization!!

I suffer from scoliosis, racing thoughts, and insomnia. I was taking seroquel to help calm my nerves but it wasn’t helping. They upped my dosage to 3 pills a night at 100 milligrams each. The seroquel wasn’t helping me sleep at night. I was taking Prozac for my depression and it made me vomit and use the restroom alot. I haven’t had any medical insurance since i’ve been on my own and I picked up cannabis. Since I started using cannabis it has really helped to calm my nerves, and I’m able to sleep through a full night now. I was wondering if I would qualify for the card?
